It’s been a little while since we’ve had an international Citizen of the Month award, but this month, the honor (and the free t-shirt) heads to the Great White North! Louis Félix Trudel, hailing from Quebec, has been a fixture on the Leaderboards, adding (and suggesting corrections for) lots of beers and breweries, as well as reviewing and photographing tons of beer. So… raise your pints and click those follow buttons - here’s to you, Louis Félix!
Well, we’re only human…. or maybe it was the beer. In any case, while we recognized our May 2014 Citizen of the Month, G Gue, on our various social channels, it seems we neglected to do so here, for our faithful blog readers!
G Gue is a great example of someone who does it all… reviewing lots of beers with great data, of course, but also adding beers/photos, suggesting corrections, and the like. People like him are what’s taking Beer Citizen to the next level.
Think that you, too, have what it takes to become a Citizen of the Month? We’ll be announcing our July COTM shortly, but keep that beer data coming in, and you could be earning that free t-shirt and the entailing celebrity status as soon as August creeps up on us. In the meantime, let’s drink… to G Gue!
Everyone, raise your pints! We’re proud to announce our first lady Citizen of the Month, KamronBC! She’s been a consistent presence on the Leaderboards, and has been an exemplary Citizen from the beginning. Wanna be next to win the title (plus win a free shirt)? Get on our leaderboards like she consistently does, and you might just follow in her footsteps.
Bikes and beer go way back, so it’s with great honor that we came to be involved with the #UnitedForBikes campaign from Peopleforbikes.org and World Bicycle Relief. A few months ago, we were approached to contribute several of our hand-crafted 4x22oz. bottle boxes to be used as prizes and bidding items in fundraising auctions. We know a good opportunity when we see one, so we jumped at the chance.
During the last few days of May, you’ve got the chance to pitch in to help this great cause, too! Go to #UnitedforBikes to read more about the month-long fundraising effort and join us in advancing the power of bikes to change lives locally and globally.
We’ve recently released a few “Quick Look” videos that quickly demonstrate new app features. We’ve got more on the way, but want to hear from our Citizens if there are any features or functions in particular that you’d like to see demonstrated - How to share on Facebook and Twitter, review tips… Comment here or on our Twitter or Facebook feeds to let us know!
People like to know what’s best. In the past, we’ve provided a top beers page to let you know what the front-runner beers are. Starting today, however, launching with the new version of the Beer Citizen apps for Android and iOS, we’re taking that to the next level.
Now you can find out who among your fellow Citizens are contributing to the site the most. Who’s entered the most reviews? Who’s entered the most data? Who’s the busiest with photos, check-ins, followers, or beers added to the database? Now you’ll know!
Beers and Breweries
Now you can keep tabs on what the hottest beers and breweries are, whether that’s by top overall rating, the most reviews entered, or whichever has the most followers.
The WayBack Machine
Whether you’re viewing Citizens, beers, or breweries, you can select the time range you’d like to see them ranked within. You can find out who gets the top ranking over the last week, month, year, or for all-time.
Congrats to our new Citizen of the Month for April, G! Be sure to give him a follow. While we usually give the CotM a free Beer Citizen t-shirt, he already bought his in the Beer Citizen Shop. Therefore, we’re sending him an upgrade - a handmade bottle tote! Keep all those great reviews coming in, and you could be the next citizen of the month. Or, you could support Beer Citizen and look good doin’ it, by getting your t-shirt right here.
It’s a new month, and with that comes a new Citizen of the Month! This March, we say thanks to Sombrero11, who’s earned the title with his exemplary review data, photographs, and additions to our beer database. Follow his example, and you too might have what it takes} to become a CotM. For all his efforts, he’s earned a free Beer Citizen t-shirt, just like the one you can buy for yourself right here.
