It’s a new month, and with that comes a new Citizen of the Month! This March, we say thanks to Sombrero11, who’s earned the title with his exemplary review data, photographs, and additions to our beer database. Follow his example, and you too might have what it takes} to become a CotM. For all his efforts, he’s earned a free Beer Citizen t-shirt, just like the one you can buy for yourself right here.
It’s that time again, wherein we take a moment to salute one of our better users, who we affectionately call Citizen of the Month. In this post, however we actually get to salute TWO!
In all our excitement recently in publishing our 2013 Year In Beer, launching the new Beer Citizen Shop and sending out our first Beer Citizen Mash Tun newsletter, we forgot to post our January Citizen of the Month here. So, without further ado, click that Follow button for January’s CotM, ABQMike!
Think you have what it takes to be Citizen of the month? Keep reviewing those beers, posting those photos, tweeting those tweets, and it could be you. You just might have what it takes. Until then, cheers!
You know those spiffy t-shirts that are awarded to our Citizens of the Month? How about those handmade bottle totes you’ve seen on Twitter? Well, now’s your chance to pick them up for yourself, as well as many other beer-centric goodies, in the Beer Citizen Shop!
In addition to Beer Citizen swag, you’ll also have the opportunity to pick up several other awesome items we recommend any Citizen should own, from glassware to books to homebrew equipment. These items are sold by Amazon, and we just make a small percentage as an affiliate store.
We’ll just come out and say it… Beer Citizen is a labor of love. We’ve made it a point to keep the apps, the site, and everything it provides free of charge. The opening of the Beer Citizen Shop gives you the opportunity not only to help support the site (servers ain’t cheap!), but also to help spread the word to your fellow beer enthusiasts, and look sharp while you’re doing it!
If there’s ever anything else you’d like to see us offering in the shop (beer cozies? hats? flight paddles?), let us know via Facebook or Twitter and we’ll see what we can do! In the meantime, thanks for supporting Beer Citizen, and happy shopping!
Behold, the results of Beer Citizen's 2013 Year In Beer! All the graphs and numbers you see have been compiled based on reviews, traits, and other data we've gathered from your activity on Beer Citizen in 2013. A big thank you to all the citizens who helped us grow this past year. 2013 was our first full year up and running, and it's been a fun ride, thanks to you all. We look forward to bringing you lots of new features, more beer tools and data, and of course sharing many more beers with you in 2014!
Thanks to all of you wonderful folks, Beer Citizen's data continues to grow each and every day. In fact, we'll have more announcements on that coming your way soon. In the meantime, however, it's a new year, and we've made a slight change to how things work.
Previously, to be eligible to land on the top beers list, a beer needed five or more reviews. Today, we’ve bumped that up to 10. This did make a few ripples in the list, but we think the new lineup certainly represents a lineup truly world-class beers. Without further ado, here’s the new Top 10 list as of this writing:
Congrats to our December Citizen of the Month, Ryan G! He’s won the honor thanks to his detailed reviews, taking advantage of our new “Submit Corrections” feature for beers and breweries, and for being a part of our Movember team. Enjoy the free t-shirt, you’ve earned it!
Check out his profile on Beer Citizen and give him a follow!

Wed like to Congratulate Ron for becoming our newest Citizen of the Month! He’s earned himself a free Beer Citizen t-shirt for his consistent long-term efforts of adding quality data when he reviews beers, adding new beers to our database, and traveling around the US taking the apps where he goes. Give him a follow, and remember, you too, could win the honor (and the awesome shirt). Just keep that data (and new beers, corrections, photos, etc.) coming in!
As many of you know, it’s that time of year again, the big show is on! We’re talking, of course, about the Great American Beer Festival. We’re not there this year, mainly because the timing just didn’t work out for us, and we’re busy at work on new features for Beer Citizen. That said, we were just in Denver and had a fantastic time drinking in the local beer culture, where GABF fever was already in the air. Here are a few pics from the adventure:
Falling Rock Tap House was an obvious stop to take in the local wares, and sample as many brews as possible that we can’t get back in our native lands. It’s also the home of the aforementioned GABF countdown. We could have spent days here, but our livers would never forgive us.
Prost Brewing (Beer Citizen profile here) was the last brewery stop on what proved to be an all-too-short trip. We were there just in time to enjoy some tasty pretzels, homemade BBQ, and help ring in their first anniversary! Ein prosit, indeed.
Denver’s an awesome city, with a rich beer history, inviting culture, and beautiful surroundings. We look forward to going back soon, hopefully for GABF next time around. If you’re lucky enough to be there now, cheers to you!
